It really is nice in Nice

Hi all,

I made it safely to Nice today. I had no problems in Ottawa or Montreal but the British sure gave me the run around. In London I had to check in my knapsack because it was supposedly too big........obviously i really didn't want to check my bag because a) i had my laptop with me and b) i had under two hours to do all this and go through security at one of the busiest airports in the world. I tried rearranging stuff in my bag to make it fit....and i was able to make it fit it the device that measures the size of the bag but the lady gave me this ridiculous explanation as to why she couldn't let me bring it on the plane.....something about how she saw me put my purse in and that it was bigger than before......;it really made no sense but i wasn't gonna argue. To check my bag i first had to wait in the customs line up, then i had to wait in a line to get my ticket and check my bag. I ended up taking my laptop out of the bag and wrapped it in my sweater and put it in a plastic bag that i used as carry on. It took a loooooong time to go through security again just because there were soooo many people.......but in the end i made it on time for my flight to Nice. Both my bags were in mint condition when i picked them up in nice. I got on a bus to the residence where i am staying and almost instantly met a Thai girl who was going into the second year of the program i am just starting. We took awhile trying to find the residence.....we got conflicting information from various nice Nice people.......eventually this one older guy basically walked us to the building. After we found our rooms, she showed me around a bit and we ate kebab (mmmmmmmm). Nice is absolutely gorgeous.....great water!

I am sooooooo tired now. I did sleep on the plane but it wasn't enough at all.......especially after Friday night ;)
